Other places to learn about the composer:

  • The most comprehensive Handel site out there: gfhandel.org
  • Italian site dedicated to the composer: haendel.it
  • Another Italian site for Handel and the Baroque era: gfhbaroque.it
  • Wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handel

  • A site that keeps track of opera performances throughout the world, from which you can selectively look for Handel or others: operabase.com

Explore Manuscripts of Handel's Music:

  • A very nearly complete catalog of manuscripts is available online at this website, for anyone wishing to see or study the music itself. It is the version published by Friedrich Chrysander, a 19th century musicologist and Handel enthusiast, who spent several decades of his life editing and publishing nearly a hundred volumes. And though his version is now seen as inadequate by many due to omissions and inaccuracies, it was perhaps the most important single project in the history of Handel scholarship.

(Note: the website is in German, which can make it a bit difficult to navigate. However, without speaking the language I was able to click my way to the music in only a couple of tries.)

Handel on YouTube:

  • I have a Youtube account, from which you can see selections of some of my favorite Handel pieces, and some playlists I've compiled.
